There’s terrible news for Lucknow moviegoers. A plan to increase the taxation on the city’s movie theaters in order to raise funds was approved by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) House with unanimous votes.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-287869″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-movie-tickets-to-cost-more-in-lucknow-heres-the-reason-you-should-know-11zon.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com movie tickets to cost more in lucknow heres the reason you should know 11zon” width=”1279″ height=”863″ title=”In Lucknow, movie tickets will cost extra 3″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-movie-tickets-to-cost-more-in-lucknow-heres-the-reason-you-should-know-11zon.jpg 400w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-movie-tickets-to-cost-more-in-lucknow-heres-the-reason-you-should-know-11zon-150×101.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1279px) 100vw, 1279px” />

Municipal tax is now levied at Rs 25 each show, but the House suggested raising it to around Rs 100. In order to implement this proposal, a committee would be formed.

Mayor Sushma Kharakwal said on Thursday that a review of the movie theater tax was necessary since it had not been examined in a number of years.

There are over 350 performances every day. According to authorities, the LMC will generate four times more income if tax rates are raised.

“At the very least, we should have been consulted before the decision was taken,” said a UP Cinema Federation office-bearer. Certainly, it will impact the average person. Cinemas will have to raise ticket prices if they are forced to pay more.
