<p>Virat Kohli’s resignation as Test captain of India last year sparked a very contentious incident in Indian cricket. Many concerns remained after Virat Kohli’s tenure as India’s captain came to an end. The legendary batsman had decided to step down from the India T20 leadership, but he was also dropped from the ODI team. Shortly after, Kohli said that he was going to resign from his position as the team’s Test captain.</p>

<p>Following the resignation of Virat Kohli, Sourav Ganguly, a former captain of the Indian cricket team, assumed leadership of the BCCI as president. Numerous sources suggested that he was a major factor in Virat Kohli’s dismissal. He has recently acknowledged that he was not involved in it, however.</p>
<p>“I didn’t take Virat out of the leadership. I’ve made this claim several times. In T20Is, Kohli had no desire to take the lead. Following his choice, I advised him to give up on playing white-ball cricket altogether if he had no desire to lead in Twenty20 internationals. Sourav Ganguly said on Dadagiri, “Let there be a white-ball captain and a red-ball captain.”</p>
<p>“I encouraged Rohit Sharma to assume the leadership job since he showed little enthusiasm in leading in any of the game’s three forms. Therefore, I may have had some influence on it, but the players are the ones who excel on the field, regardless of the administrator. There is nothing that an outsider can do to help.</p>
<p>“I was appointed as the President of BCCI to work for the betterment of Indian cricket, this is a small part of it.”</p>
<p>Rohit Sharma was handed the team’s baton in T20Is, ODIs, and Tests after Kohli’s departure as India’s captain across three formats.</p>
<p>“To lead the team correctly, it has taken seven years of laborious effort, daily dedication, and hard work. I completed the task completely honestly and without omissions. Everything must come to an end eventually, and for me as the Indian Test captain, that time is here. While there have been many highs and some lows along the way, neither effort nor belief has wavered. Putting my all into whatever I do has always been my belief, and if I’m not able to accomplish that, I know it’s not the correct thing to do. “I can’t be untruthful to my team; I have complete clarity in my heart,” Kohli had said at the time.</p>
<p>“I want to thank the BCCI for allowing me to serve my nation for so long, and more significantly, I want to thank all of my teammates for believing in the team’s mission from the beginning and never giving up under any circumstances. This adventure is so wonderful and unforgettable because of you all. You all have been instrumental in realizing this goal, especially Ravi bhai and the support team who were the driving force behind this vehicle that continuously propelled us forward in Test cricket. Last but not least, a huge thank you to MS Dhoni, who saw potential in me as a captain and felt that I could lead Indian cricket.”</p>
