David Warner, Australia’s opening batsman, has finally shared his thoughts on Mitchell Johnson’s harsh criticism of his intentions to retire from Test cricket.
In his remarks, the 37-year-old hitter said that “everyone’s entitled to their own opinions” without mentioning Johnson specifically.

“Without a headline, would it be a summer?

“It is what it is. Everyone is free to have their own beliefs. As per ESPNcricinfo, Warner said, “Going forward, we’re looking forward to a nice Test over in the west,” during the opening of Fox Cricket’s summer coverage in Parramatta on Friday.

That was something my folks taught me. They instilled in me a daily work ethic and a fight ethic. You don’t realize what comes with being on the global stage—a lot of media, plenty of wonderful feedback, and lots of criticism.

“I think what’s more important is what you see here today, the people coming out to support cricket,” he said.

For those who don’t know, Johnson was very critical of Warner for being given the chance to choose his last Test match despite not hitting enough runs in recent years.

Why it’s OK for a struggling Test opener to choose when to quit. What justifies a hero’s farewell for a player who is at the center of one of the worst scandals in Australian cricket history? Johnson said as much in his West Australian column.
