Kajol says she fought tooth and nail with Karan Johar to play Rani Mukerji’s “Tina” in “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.”

<p>With her outstanding performance as the tomboyish Anjali in Karan Johar’s “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” Bollywood star Kajol captured hearts. In the 1998 release, Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji played the roles of Rahul and Tina, respectively. As per Kajol’s recent interview with Rajeev Masand’s ‘Netflix Actors’ Roundtable,’ she had genuinely asked to be Tina in the movie, but Karan Johar flatly refused her request.</p>

<p>Kajol said in the Roundtable, “I participated in ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.’” I had an argument with Karan Johar because I wanted to portray Tina, but he said no. You’re in the role of Anjali. But I want to play Tina’s part,’ I thought to myself. You have no idea what I’ll do with Tina. I was instructed to shut up by Karan. For forty-five minutes, I battled him tooth and nail, but he flatly refused.</p>
<p>At the Roundtable, Sidharth Malhotra made the amusing observation that he “was quite happy with the way the film turned out.”</p>
<p><strong>Kajol even received a Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her performance.</strong></p>
<p>In a recent episode of “Koffee with Karan,” when presenter Karan Johar discussed recollections of the just 25-year-old movie, Kajol and Rani were also guests. Karan said in the show that there isn’t really a tight relationship between the two women. “It was an organic distance, and in terms of work, I think it’s more that both of us liked where we were,” Kajol said.</p>
<p>“Because I have known her as a kid and she was Kajol did for me and it was a bit strange,” Rani said in response to the same question. We didn’t get to see each other very frequently since Kajol didi used to live in the city and we were in Juhu, so I suppose you really don’t know why you’re growing apart. Tanisha and I remain considerably closer than we were. However, Kajol didi was always more bonded to the family’s males. Thus, it was a little peculiar.</p>
<p>Regarding their recent motion pictures, Kajol starred in the online series “The Trial,” while Rani was last seen in “Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway.”</p>
