Emma McKeon and Kaylee McKeown have decided to skip the February race in order to concentrate on the Olympics in Paris later in the year.

World 50-meter freestyle champion Cameron McEvoy and sprinter Shayna Jack, who has participated in four world record-breaking relay teams, lead the 18-person lineup.

The team is half the size of the one that won 25 medals, including 13 gold, at the global championships in Fukuoka this year.

In the 400-meter freestyle, 2022 world champion Elijah Winnington will want to repeat as the top finisher, with experience coming from Jenna Forrester, Abbey Harkin, and Brianna Throssell.

Iona Anderson, a backstroke specialist, and Jaclyn Barclay, a standout performer at this year’s global junior swimming championships in Israel, were among the three rookies chosen.

Australia’s run-up to the Olympics is hectic. Olympic swimming trials will take place in Brisbane from June 10–15, while national championships will take place on the Gold Coast in April.

The Australian team consists of the following players: Moesha Johnson, Cameron McEvoy, Kiah Melverton, Alexandria Perkins, Kai Taylor, Brianna Throssell, Samuel Williamson, Elijah Winnington, Bradley Woodward, Iona Anderson, Jaclyn Barclay, Jack Cartwright, Abbey Connor, Isaac Cooper, Jenna Forrester, Madeleine Gough, Abbey Harkin, Shayna Jack, and
