MS Dhoni brings the young bowler to the CSK nets after being impressed with his yorker

Share

MS Dhoni, the legendary captain of the Chennai Super Kings, would not have predicted that the viral video from the match between St. John’s College and Jaffna Central College would get the attention of the legendary player. Kugadas Mathulan delivered a deadly in-swinging yorker that swept the batter off his feet.

In addition to doing that, the 17-year-old right-arm Jaffna pacer’s spectacular delivery is said to have won him an invitation to bowl in the CSK nets during the 2024 Indian Premier League, giving Dhoni a better chance to examine the young bowler.

It’s interesting to see how much Lasith Malinga, the bowling coach for the Mumbai Indians at the moment, resembles Muthulan in his bowling motion. Muthulan delivers with a peculiar round-arm motion that may deter batsmen, much like the legendary Sri Lankan player.

Although Matheesha Pathirana, a pacer from Sri Lanka, is included in the CSK team, he is not expected to start the first few matches of the next IPL season due to a hamstring injury.
At their stronghold, the MA Chidamabaram Stadium in Chennai, five-time champions Chennai Super Kings will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tournament’s first match on March 22.
