Five early-stage companies will be selected for US$500,000 each as Beacon looks for technologies across the emerging space supply chain
Hyderabad, August 14, 2026: Abyro Capital, has opened applications for Beacon, a dedicated SpaceTech cohort focused on identifying, investing in and accelerating India’s most promising early-stage SpaceTech startups. Combining institutional capital, sector-specific mentorship and ecosystem support, Beacon aims to help founders transform breakthrough technologies into globally competitive businesses.
The initiative comes as India’s space economy, currently valued at approximately US$8.4 billion, is projected to reach US$44 billion by 2033, creating significant opportunities for private SpaceTech ventures.
The launch event brought together prominent founders from India’s SpaceTech ecosystem, including Sanjay Nekkanti, CEO & Co-founder, Dhruva Space; Anand Rajagopalan, Co-founder, TakeMe2Space; Dr. C. V. S. Kiran, Founder & CEO, Red Balloon Aerospace; Maruthi Amardeep Sri Vatsavaya, Co-Founder & CEO; and Utham Kumar Dharmapuri, Chief Technology Officer, BluJ Aerospace Private Limited.
Beacon has been created as a launchpad for India’s next generation of SpaceTech entrepreneurs. While nearly 400 private SpaceTech startups have emerged following the opening of India’s space sector, early-stage founders continue to face challenges in accessing specialised capital, technical expertise and commercial pathways. Beacon seeks to bridge this gap by combining investment with strategic support, helping startups move from technology development to commercialisation.
Vamsi Kora, Founder & Managing Partner, Abyro Capital, said, “India is entering a defining decade for SpaceTech innovation. Beacon is our commitment to backing visionary founders with the capital, expertise and ecosystem support needed to build globally competitive companies.”
A key feature of Beacon is its distinguished mentor council comprising space scientists, founders, operators and industry leaders. The council will provide participating startups with technical guidance, product validation, strategic introductions and commercial insights throughout the programme.
India’s SpaceTech ecosystem is at an inflection point, driven by progressive policy reforms, increased private participation, growing launch capabilities and rising global demand for space-based technologies. Beacon aims to complement this momentum by bringing founders, investors, mentors, customers and ecosystem partners together to accelerate innovation from concept to commercial deployment.
Following a structured evaluation process, five startups operating at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 2–4 will each receive a committed investment of US$500,000. Selected startups will also participate in an intensive eight-week acceleration programme covering strategic mentorship, technical validation, customer introductions, product showcases and fundraising support.
The programme comes at a time when India’s private space ecosystem is moving from a relatively small group of pioneering companies toward a broader network of startups, suppliers, investors and commercial partners.
For early-stage companies, however, the path from technical breakthrough to commercial deployment remains difficult. Space technologies typically require longer development cycles, specialised testing, technical validation and access to customers who can evaluate highly complex products.
Beacon has been structured around that gap, combining early institutional capital with access to technical experts, founders, operators and industry participants.
The programme is particularly interested in founders building technologies that could become part of the underlying infrastructure of the space economy, including companies whose products may not yet fit neatly within an established SpaceTech category.
Applications for Beacon are open until August 21, 2026.
